Six (6) Training Requirements for New Leaders

Thank you for volunteering to be a Scouting Leader!

There are a number of things that you will need to complete. All the training is online at https://www.myscouts.ca/. See if you can create an account. The most important step in this process is the Police records check, that will take the longest.

Things that you need to complete to become a leader.
1) Police records check - You can download the form by clicking  here the cost is $25. which is reimbursable by Scouts Canada - I have forms that you can use that will waive the fee, please let me know if you require one.
2) An interview by myself and another Scout Leader.
3) Module 1 of the Wood Badge 1 for the section you are going to volunteer in - Training is available from the my scouts website.
4) AODA training (Accessibility Training/ Formation sur les Personnes Handicapée) - Training is available from the my scouts website.
5) Youth Safety Training - Training is available from the my scouts website.
6) Complete Modules 2 to 5 of the Wood Badge 1. The training can be completed online or in person if you choose.

Steps 1 through 5 need to be completed before you can work with the youth.
Step 6 needs to be completed by December 31, 2012.

Screening/Training Compliance

Volunteers SHOULD not be working with youth until all the mandatory screening and training have been completed which includes
1. Police Records Check (PRC)
2. VSS - Vulnerable Sector Screening
3. CYS - Child Youth Safety
4. Accessibility Training (AODA)
5. WB1 Module 1
6. Code of Conduct - signed & submitted to Group Commissioner
Compliance Screening report was circulated to all leaders dated October 9th, 2012
Indicating which of the above criteria were still required for the current roster of volunteers.
